Victoria Regia lily pads

Everything grows bigger in the jungle.

Piranha fishing

We went fishing for piranhas. They look gentle but they are very fierce. Their teeth are sharp as razors but that did not discourage me from the task.

Highlights of the jungle

We saw and did so many things in the jungle I will only be able to highlight a few. Here is one of my favourite things...a sloth just hanging around. We saw so many sloths in their natural habitat. When they spotted us they would slowly move away.

New friend

We made many new friends at the butterfly farm.

Butterflies

Here is someone very interested in the butterflies.

Visiting a butterfly sanctuary

When in Peru we travel like Peruvians. Here is part of our team on the way to the butterfly farm.

Transportation in Iquitos

Iquitos is only accessible by air or water so they have only a few cars. Most of the people travel by motorcar or motorcycle. I'm not sure but there appear to be no rules on the road.

In Iquitos

We arrived in Iquitos Saturday afternoon. After we checked into our hotel we did some exploring.

We are emerging from the jungle.

It is a beautiful day.

Goodbye

The children all waited in line as the bus was leaving. We just had to get out one last time and say our goodbyes.

Packing up

Everyone is busy packing up and moving the tents for the next group. It is a beautiful warm, sunny day. Yesterday the kids had a going away party for us. They are very appreciative of what the Canadians (over the years) have done for them.

Pre-Inca ruins

The older boys took us to a pre-Inca ruins. It was quite a hike up the dune but very interesting. Yes you are looking at actual unearthed skulls etc.
